We usually burn candles for a scent or odor we enjoy, right? What if there was a candle that emitted energies that were sometimes healing, other times loving and often even cleansing? If this fabulous idea sounds just as fabulous to you as it does to me, then you will have met your match. Mama Moon Candles is it. As owner and creator Semra says it herself “these candles are infused with positive energy, healing and the manifestation of all things meta-physical through the mystique and magic of a flickering flame. “
I recently got my hands on a Love Manifestation candle, which is infused with Oud and Rose. Oud is believed to draw your lover close to you with its rich and hypnotic scent. Roses are a powerful symbol of love. A rose scent can attract love and bring inspiration and luck in to your home. Let’s just say I’m feeling the love in my place. Each candle comes along with a little manifestation suggestion. For this one Sema suggests to breathe in deep and visualize gratitude for all the love in your life, let it wash over you and manifest what you want. If that doesn’t scream good vibes only, I don’t does.
Mama also recently launched a line of magic potions. These purifiers allow us to cleanse and health, by sending out only the most positive vibrations into the world. I’m currently using the Spiritual Bleach potion, which clears negativity; bringing peace comfort and healing. Each potion has a different purpose and magical energy (akin to Mama candles). I wholeheartedly confirm that these products are just awesome and will change your life. I am a super fan. Please visit their site for more info on the products and where you can find them.
So there are some of us that love vegan food, (even carnivores like me) and others that just can’t seem to wrap their heads around it. How can something so simple and light taste good? Sol Semilla will help you answer all of these questions. I had the pleasure of enjoying my Sunday brunch there, and I rediscovered my love for this organic plant-based, vegan restaurant.
While there are a variety of options on their menu, including copious soups and delightful juices, I decided to go with their daily special. This very special mixture of vitamin rich vegetables and grains was not only satisfying but really really delicious. Sol Semilla features a warm and raw plate, which change daily (in function to seasonal vegetables) in addition to their traditional menu. My plate comprised a mixture of salad, a delicious butternut squash soup, caviar of acai (yup it’s a thing) and rice plaf. Not to mention everything was (and always is) organic. Sol Semilla even has their own brand of natural elements and powders that will cure any ailment. These items are available in many Parisian organic foodstores, at the organic market at Saint Germain, and of course at their restaurant location and on their site. Go visit them – Sol Semilla , 23 Rue des Vinaigriers, 75010 Paris. P.s. Don’t forget to visit their blog where you will also find inventive recipes and well-being tips.
So we all know it’s super difficult to find time for ourselves. Yoga classes and meditation sessions alway seem to come at the wrong times, unless we have truly blocked these moments into our schedule. Carving out this personal time for well-being is just simply not as evident as we may like it to be. But we can fix this. I have a solution for you. It’s called Yoga Connect.
Yoga Connect is a internet platform that allows you to practice anytime and anywhere. Best of all, you get your first 15 days for free. So no excuses for not giving it a shot. But this platform is not solely for devoted yogis, but also has meditation options, specialized workshop (right now they have an awesome creativity and flexibility workshop with two of my favorite yoga teachers, Tatiana and Alexander, um yes?) and retreat options! Honestly, what could be better. OH, just one thing. They also have an app, available for download on the AppStore. Safe to say, I highly recommend this super tool to cultivate self awareness and practice self care with ease. For more information check out their website.
Let’s face it, who isn’t kind of obsessed with hummus? That creamy and yummy stuff that goes with just about everything? First things first, is it really good for us? Or is this just some kind of myth we guilt-fully tell ourselves. Well I have good news for you, The Huffington Post confirms that we should be eating more of this heavenly goodness. Apparently it can prevent cancer, lower cholesterol and even help you loose weight (?). Check the hyperlink for more info. So now that that’s taken care of, let’s talk about a place here in Paris where it couldn’t get any better. I haven’t been to Yafo in Israel, but I can tell you that this cute little place in Paris is just to die for.
At Yafo, I almost always get the “Veggie Hummus”. This delicious bowl consists of a copious amount of absolutely delicious hummus, topped with seasonal veggies and other simple surprises. Above is a veggie version featured on LeFooding, which I was lucky enough to try when it was one of their specials. Below is what they currently have on the menu – turnip with smoked olive oil and grilled almonds. They also have a selection of Israeli salads, as well as a simple deli and meat hummus bowl options. Yafo really has got your hummus hook up. Go have a try – Yafo, 96 rue d’Hauteville 75010, and check their site for more info.
So if you follow my Instagram even a little bit, you’re probably more than aware that I am a huge (if not one of the biggest) fans of Yuj Yoga Studio. I started practicing at Yuj nearly 8 months ago and haven’t looked back. What was once a 4 day a week practice has turned into a daily yoga practice. I assure you it is all because of this magical place.
But enough about me, let’s talk about Yuj. So what is it all about? This flow yoga center is dark, lit by only candles allowing you to truly let go in your practice. It’s not that no one is watching, but no one can watch you, it’s just too dark and peaceful. Even better, it not not hot yoga, but it kind of is. This is because the studio is heated entirely by infrared lamps, which detoxes the body and has fantastic benefits for the skin. One of the best parts of YUJ is it’s ambiance of good vibes and real community. When I first started practicing at YUJ, I didn’t know a single soul. Now I have yoga friends that I hold near and dear to my heart.
Now for the new big news – drum roll please. They have opened a second studio! In the dead center of Paris – 68 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1er arrondissement). The centrality isn’t the only thing that makes this space awesome, but you still get all those good vibes AND it’s easy for pretty much anyone to access. Not to mention, absolutely gorgeous. But hey, for those left bankers their first location is located in the 7th in between Alma-Marceau and Ecole Militaire (11 Rue Edmond Valentin). So really, everyone is happy. For more information check out their website: http://www.yujyogastudio.com/ and their Instagram @yujyoga_studio.
It’s about time we talk a bit about yoga, and I simply can’t think of a better place to start than with one of my favorite teachers here in Paris. Her name is Coelia (act like the o doesn’t exist, it’s pronounced Celia). I first met Coelia at Yuj Yoga Studio and was totally blown away by her infectious positive energy and intense yet very fun flow. I couldn’t understand why I had never taken her class before. Sooner or later, I realized the answer was simple. As hard to believe as it was, and still is, Coelia hadn’t been teaching for very long in Paris.
Following a Masters degree in language, Coelia moved to Dubai to work for Emirates Airlines as a Chief Air Hostess. To cope with the stress and keep in shape she decided to try yoga. Previously a gymnast, it seemed like a fitting form of mental and physical exercise. She quickly discovered Strala Yoga, which gave her a sense of freedom and confidence that she had never felt before. Soon, she took off for a 4 day retreat in Thailand, an experience that changed her life forever. Coelia quickly decided to return to Thailand for a 4 week, 500h teacher training at Vikasa Yoga. These 4 weeks turned into 5 months.
Coelia started teaching classes all over the world in May 2016 and moved back to Paris at the end of 2016. Coelia’s classes truly take you to a different universe, where things are playful and rewarding. She has already accumulated 12k followers on Instagram (@coelia.yoga) and her classes are nearly always full.
In addition to her busy yoga schedule (available on her website https://www.fitinaplane.com/), Coelia is a cofounder of Smile Flow. In tangent with another wonderful Parisian yogi teacher Alix Alleguede (@alixalleguede), these ladies aim deconstruct the image of yoga portrayed in the media as pretty girls with a perfect body, doing seemingly beautiful and difficult postures. Thus, they have created a fun practice, focused on feelings and internal sensations. Smile Flow’s are a monthly event and the next one is on 27th of January. Info is available on: www.smile-flow.com. Coelia is also organizing an incredible 10 day yoga retreat in India this March. Check out her site for more info (I wish I could go). For more information on this awesome human, please visit her website: https://www.fitinaplane.com/ (where you will also be able to find her weekly schedule).
