It is not easy as one may think to find European style, homemade cooking in NYC and Brooklyn as one might think. This is why Bakeri holds such a special place in my heart. The small enterprise that was once simply a goal of bringing small batch, European-style bread to their community turned into a cafe – with two additional locations that came later.
Their true focus is on freshness, the quality of their ingredients, their love of food, and offering a zen space to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. They have most certainly succeeded in their endeavours. While the root of their cooking and recipes derive from Northern Europe, their day to day menu ranges depending on their personal inspirations, which as they say can range from a seasonal fruit to recent travels or even last night’s dream. They use only the most qualitative ingredients from organic and local sources (when possible that is). Visit this heavenly little corner of NYC or BK. You’ll be happy you did.
