Word By Jessie Does Restaurants NYC Style {where i’ve been and love & where i absolutely need to check out}

Soooo people. Now that I have officially lived in New York over a month (and have been coming at least once a week all my life), I can suggest a few key spots for some grubbing. While eating out for every meal is way out of my budget, it’s possible to do everything on a budget.

Where I’ve been & love:

Cafe Angelique: Corner of Grove St & Bleecker St in the West Village. Try their mango & goat cheese salad with balsamic dressing. Mmm. I could eat it every day.

Gemma: It’s in the Bowery Hotel. Their “Melanzane al Forno” (roasted eggplant with ricotta di bufala, parmigiano & tomato sauce) is to die for. The scene there is great too.

Cafe Gitane: Either in the Jane Hotel or on Mott St. Pretty much everything is good at Gitane. Their tuna ceviche salad and couscous are especially good.

No. 7 Sub: In the Ace Hotel. It is a sandwich shop that is supposedly out of this world. I enjoyed a delicious goat cheese sandwich on the San Generro festival from them, it was good enough that I can suggest No. 7 to y’all. (& I’m planning on checking out the actual spot tomorrow)

Momofuku Má Pêche: E 56th between 5th & 6th. Absolutely amazing everything. The pork buns shown above. You must check it out. They have a restaurant and milk bar located in the front.

Where I’ve gotta try:

The Smile: On Bond St between Lafayette & the Bowery. I have only heard great things. Their menu looks pretty fantastic. It’s owned by Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte of the Westway and the Jane, so how could their restaurant be anything but impressive.

The John Dory: Also in the Ace Hotel. I ate at the Breslin recently, but couldn’t help eyeing the John Dory. They have a great raw bar menu, as well as cooked fish options. If it’s in the Ace, it’s gotta be good.

Cafe Select: 212 Lafayette St. I’ve been here, but never actually eaten anything here. Always meeting friends. The menu looks tasty. If veal schnitzel is on the menu, I’m down.

The Dutch: 131 Sullivan St. Heard their rabbit pot pie is out of this world. I love pot pies. Gotta hit this one up.
